The aim of this very relaxing treatment is to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, whilst improving the overall texture and quality of the complexion and skin.  The treatment is believed to enhance the body’s ability to produce natural collagen, therefore helping to soften and smooth the appearance of even deep wrinkles and creases.  This natural approach to anti-ageing that many of us strive for is a safe and holistic alternative to Botox.

The Facial Acupuncture Treatment

  • The treatment begins with a full consultation and a few body points are carefully selected to help bring a balance to the whole treatment.

  • The face is then cleansed, incorporating a short massage to help relax the face muscles and increase blood flow.

  • The acupuncture needles that are used on the face are extremely fine and of very high quality.  Once inserted, the needles are left in place for about 20 minutes.

  • After the needles are removed, the face is massaged with high quality oils chosen to boost the production of collagen, together with Vitamins A and C, again to aid the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.  During the massage, Chinese jade Gua Sha stones and rollers are also used to help work the oils into the skin, but also for their natural cooling properties.

  • To end the treatment, a light natural moisturiser is applied to the face.  All the products I use are chosen because of the 100% natural ingredients used in them.

How many treatments will I need?

To gain the greatest effects and benefits from this treatment, a course of sessions is highly recommended with the initial course of about 10 treatments.  I do not believe that these treatments need to be weekly as overstimulation can actually have a desensitising effect and the body can get used to the process.  However, ideally the first 3 appointments should be weekly and then fortnightly for the next 3-4 treatments.  Lengthening the gap between treatments ensures that the treatments remain stimulating.  The final 3-4 treatments can then be as much as 3-4 weeks apart.

Maintaining the benefits of this treatment should be considered, and a treatment every 4-6 weeks is a good example of how this can be achieved.
